Common Green Tree Frog (Litoria caerulea)
| I have a colony of green tree frogs living in my backyard. They have only been living here for about one year. I haven't seen them since early winter, so I'm hoping they are just hiding away for the colder months and will return in spring. I hope the stray neighbourhood cats have not eaten them. I was surprised that my dogs hadn't eaten them. They usually like small wiggly things. It seems that the frogs have an effective defence mechanism...they let out a scream that keeps the dogs at bay. It's difficult to describe this noise; it's like a cross between a dolfin and a bat, I think. |
